A fantastic woodland walk that climbs up and over the gentle Acres Down heathland with panoramic views to the south of the forest

A walk leaders favourite. Taking a long loop to the west of Lyndhurst this walk passes through some of most stunning broadleaf woodland the New Forest has to offer. The walk passes around and through a stretch of stunning birch woodland fringing a 'lawn' where deer can often be seen grazing.
The walk climbs up out of the woodland onto the heathland topped Acres Down where on a clear day you can see Sway Tower and across the broadleaf canopy. Soon the route plunges back into woodland and the skirts around some of the inclosures but never far away from the larger trees.
A brief diversion can be made to explore the New Forest Reptile Centre where depending on the time of years sun bathing adders can be viewed.
