The walks calendar page lists when the walks are on and will give the number of places left on each walk. This calendar also indicates when Nigel will be available for bespoke walks.
Rockford, Mockbeggar and Ibsley

This walk explores the high heathland plateaus of the 'Northern Commons' - Rockford, Mockbeggar and Ibsley. These high heathland plateaus are can be reached by a number of delightful heather, gorse and bracken glad valleys that delight all year round. During the autumn you may be lucky enough to see a Red Deer stag but will always see the grazing locals - cows, ponies and donkeys. The high commons are linked together by deep valleys and faint paths that take you through, round and over the landscape. During the wetter months the the better surfaced tracks and paths gives some respite from the wet and during the summer months the wooded sections and breezy tops gives some respite from the heat!

Walk information
The commons are situated to the west of the New Forest close to Fordingbridge. Linwood nestles in a gently rolling landscape and is delight to drive to on narrow roads - watch out for the ponies, donkeys and cows who share the road as well. The tiny hamlet of linwood has a pub, camp site and a pleasant rural feel.
The National Trust car park at Rockford sits in an old sand quarry on the western edge of Rockford common close to Moyles Court School. Both car parks give fantastic and immediate access to the commons.

The Rockford Common car park is best accessed via the A338.
From the A338 Salisbury Road (Ringwood or Fordingbridge direction) use the Ellingham Drove Road exit for Moyles Court and Linwood (also brown signpost/s Redshoot Inn/camping site). Continue past the nature reserve lakes and then just after the cattle grid and Ibsley 30 speed sign continue straight on (sign posted Mockbegger and North Gorley) between between Moyles Court School playing fields/buildings. Next right at junction and then over the ford and continue straight. Rockford Common car park (National Trust non-payment) is straight in front of you under the disused sand quarry up a tarmac driveway (signposted as a T-junction road).
If the ford is too high park either side of the road just before it and use the foot bridge!
